About Dr. Klamut
Though he currently lives in Virginia, Dr. Klamut is originally from West Virginia. Having been born and raised here, he feels extremely connected to the communities in which our offices are located. Both his compassion and his passion for oral surgery stem from his childhood in West Virginia. When he was younger, he did yard work for an oral surgeon, who later became a family friend. Dr. Klamut used to visit him in the office and watch him work, and he was inspired. Seeing Dr. Klamut’s interest, the family friend encouraged him to pursue oral surgery.
The career choice has been extremely rewarding for him. He enjoys surgery, but most of all, he enjoys being able to help people. The most rewarding aspect of the job is when he’s able to help people with severe issues get back to a healthy life of eating well and smiling constantly. He makes sure to always treat every patient with dignity and respect, and he really takes the time to listen to them and involve them in the treatment planning process.
Education and Residency
Having known from a young age that he wanted to be an oral surgeon, Dr. Klamut took the necessary steps to receive an early acceptance into dental school. He completed his dental degree at the West Virginia University School of Dentistry and then continued his training with an oral and maxillofacial residency at Johns Hopkins. During his residency, he gained experience in the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, which also included extensive training in the safe administration of all forms of anesthesia.
Taking his qualifications a step further, Dr. Klamut decided to pursue his American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery certification. To earn his board certification, he had to complete an extensive written exam, as well as four separate oral exams. Each exam tested Dr. Klamut’s judgment in various surgical situations as well as his knowledge of the oral and maxillofacial specialty. As a board-certified oral surgeon, Dr. Klamut is recognized for his high standards of care and exemplary knowledge. Additionally, to maintain his board-certified status, he participates in continuing education and stays up to date with the latest technology and surgical techniques.
Outside of work, Dr. Klamut prefers to spend as much time as possible with his three daughters. With one daughter working as a dental hygienist in the same town where he lives and another attending community college, he takes every opportunity to see them and have fun with them. They attend church together and always enjoy each other’s company.
