Eyes are typically one of the first facial features that people notice. Unfortunately, the delicate skin around the eye is often one of the first places to show signs of aging and can make you appear older than you are. Fine lines, wrinkles, droopiness, and puffiness of the upper and lower lids all contribute to an older appearance. Blepharoplasty is intended to minimize or resolve the existing aging effects of the surrounding eye area and is often performed in conjunction with other procedures, such as a facelift.
Your blepharoplasty procedure will begin with a consultation with your surgeon, who will determine the most effective surgical approach that is right for you based on your medical history, current health status, individual needs, and aesthetic goals.
You will be comfortably sedated with IV sedation or general anesthesia during your blepharoplasty procedure. To remove excess fat and skin and lift the eye area, your surgeon will make very fine incisions around the eyelid. After the skin has been placed back over the newly rejuvenated area, the surgical sites are sutured, and you will be taken to recovery.
