IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, is a treatment designed to treat and improve the appearance of certain skin conditions. It is also a common treatment for unwanted hair removal.
IPL is commonly used for
- Vascular lesions
- Hair removal
IPL works by using light energy to target the color pigments in the hair and skin. IPL is an outpatient procedure that produces optimal results using a noninvasive treatment. Downtime is considered minimal, and the patient can usually return to their work or activities immediately following treatment.
Am I a good candidate for IPL?
IPL works best on patients with dark hair and fair skin. White hairs cannot be treated because the IPL only targets the color pigments. Patients who have darker skin may be treated but will need to be thoroughly examined before the treatment begins and will proceed with caution.
Your skin type and condition, the extent of the procedure, and aesthetic goals will determine the results of IPL treatment. Redness and swelling are common side effects and are usually short term.
If you wish to restore a youthful appearance to your face, address specific skin conditions, or desire removal of unwanted hair, IPL may be the right treatment for you. Please contact our office today for a complimentary consultation appointment. We look forward to meeting you.
